Our approach

Begin with people. Build from there.

We believe lasting change grows from listening, practical education and connections that respect local priorities.

01

Listen to context

Public descriptions of ASASS-Burundi emphasize understanding needs before shaping a response.

02

Make learning useful

Health and life-skills information can travel further when it is clear, local-language and shared in familiar settings.

03

Work across sectors

Health, education, livelihoods and social assistance affect one another. Collaboration helps address the whole picture.

Learning in a local language

A partner’s 2017–18 report describes ASASS-Burundi helping translate health and life-skills lessons into Kirundi and share them through group learning. This dated example illustrates the approach, without implying the same activity is underway now.
